yes I took the riviera cruise about three years ago.don’t think it was the pride ship. nonetheless it was terrible the weather was around 60 and nothing to exciting to do on ship for a long period of time.if the weather is nice i am sure a lot of things would be much different.the stops in mex. were awsome but short.

    Carnival is a great choice.

7 day is the only way to go. It gives you time to enjoy everything there is to enjoy.

Don’t spend a lot of money on excursions…they only ensure that the boat will not leave without you if you don’t make it back in time. Talk to people and find out what you can do without going out with a load of passengers. We never do many of the excursions… they are pricey and crowded. Wish you had said where you were going.

Take advantage of the Art Auctions on the boat. Go, have free Campaign and watch the show. Even if you don’t buy an art piece you get a print to take home with you and frame. All are very nice.

Watch ordering drinks. They are pricey and if you don’t keep tabs you will throw up when you pay your final bill.

All the cruise lines now are including the tips in your final bill. No need to tip everyone on the boat. Go to the purser’s desk and tell them you want that taken off your final bill and have them provide you with envelopes so you can tip yourself. We always leave cash and make sure each and everyone we tip gets it. It will save you a bundle.

If you go to Cozumel… get off the boat and take a Taxi to their private beach. It starts with an H. Ten dollars to get there and back and a small fee to go to the beach. It is beautiful and the snorkeling is great. There is a quaint Mexican Restaurant on the beach if you get hungry. Just watch you watch and get back to the boat on time. Cozumel has the best shopping.

Yes, I have been on the Carnival Pride and to the Mexican Rivera. You will not be disappointed! The Pride is a beautiful large ship with lots of things to keep you occupied while at sea. Then you get to see the beautiful Mexican Rivera….do take advantage of the shore excursions, as it may be a once in a lifetime opportunity!

I was on the Carnival Elation twice on the Mexican Riviera cruise. You can see the schedule at my web site below.

I took the carnival pride several years ago. While it wasn’t a nightmare, it made me never want to cruise carnival again.

Portions of the ship smelled like sewage

The servers ranged from incredibly friendly to downright rude and incompetent (20 minutes for a champagne glass??)

    The food was mediocre

The clientel seemed to have just exited a Nascar race or a WWE event. There were people threatening other people at the top of their lungs. People were drunk everywhere. We couldn’t use our balcony because the neighbors were such heavy smokers – it made *our* room smell like smoke! The neighbors were incredibly loud and always up at 7am. When we complained, we were essentially told ‘too bad’. People were screaming “HOMO” and “FAGG0T” at a gay themed cruise that had docked next to us.

The ship goes *so* fast that on ‘at sea’ days, it was very very hard to lay out or relax on the deck. The wind was HOWLING and very very chilly.

The ship was ok, but in a hotel, I would give it 2 and a half stars, *maybe* 3 on a 5 star scale.

I’m a little bit of a travel snob, but I’m not demanding or unreasonable. My husband felt the same way about the trip (disappointed), and he’s happy in a 2 star hotel as long as the room is clean and the staff is friendly.

It wasn’t dreadful meaning no one died, we were always well fed, drinks weren’t particularly watered down, our room was usually clean, etc.

But to me, I’d rather pay a little bit more and sail on Royal Caribbean becaue the services and amenities are so much better. But, that’s JMHO. : )
