Soon after Christopher Columbus returned from the Americas, European powers began colonizing islands in the region. These colonies provided precious metals and abundant natural resources for the Europeans. While Spanish and Portuguese ships started claiming portions of South America, England, the Netherlands and France focused on a group of islands between North and South America. Known as the West Indies at the time, the more than seven thousand islands in the region are commonly called the Caribbean today.

Haiti became the first republic in the Caribbean in 1804. Steeled by this success, a number of islands in the Caribbean fought for and gained their independence during the nineteenth century.

But it was not until the 1960s that the British finally agreed to grant independence to any Caribbean nation that desired it. Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados all became free countries during this period. But the road ahead would have been far more arduous were it not for tourism.

You see, the Caribbean nations had been exploited for centuries by the European powers who established a plantation system that relied almost entirely on agriculture. As a result, there was virtually no industry and no hope of consistent employment once these countries gained their independence.

Fortunately, they had three things going for them: proximity to the United States and the most beautiful weather and scenery on earth. For these reasons, the tourism industry began to flourish in the late sixties when a number of major cruise lines began adding Caribbean islands to their itinerary.

Why cruises? Since most islands had little or no infrastructure at the time, cruises were the easiest and most affordable way to reach them. Arriving by plane was not only expensive, but it could be quite dangerous. Therefore, cruises lines were the only reliable way to see the Caribbean islands for several years.

These cruises contributed to the growth of the Caribbean as they provided locals with employment in numerous sectors of the economy. To this day, ports-of-call in many Caribbean islands are supported by tourist dollars, most of which are spend by vacationing Americans.

What is the appeal? Because of their proximity to the US, cruises to Caribbean islands are far more affordable for Americans than any other kind. Not surprisingly, it is the most popular destination for US tourists. In fact, a recent survey found that nearly three out of four Americans that take a cruise visit the Caribbean. The same survey noted that customer satisfaction rates for these cruises are the highest in the industry.

There is a simple explanation for this. While other cruises focus on the sightseeing and the history of a specific region, Caribbean cruises are all about relaxation. That is why they world’s most luxurious cruise ships travel to the Caribbean. And since Americans are the most stressed-out people on earth, it really is a perfect fit.

What to expect? The average Caribbean cruise ship offers guests whatever they might desire. For couples that are in need of a relaxing vacation, saunas, spas, sumptuous dinning, drinks by the poolside and breathtaking views should do for trick. And for families, there are countless activities that both parents and kids can enjoy from shuffleboard to nightclubs to team competitions.

But before you go ahead and plan your trip, it is important to decide what part of the Caribbean you would like to see. There is the Westerner, the Eastern and the Southern Caribbean. Of the three, the Western Caribbean is the most popular destination for tourists.

On a 7-day trip to this region, cruises may call at ports in Key West, Ocho Rios (Jamaica), Grand Cayman, George Town, Cozumel or Montego Bay. Not only is this package a bit cheaper than the others because it is closer to Florida, but it also includes several popular historical sites, including ancient ruins.

A favorite for the more active guests is the daytrip in Jamaica. The island nation is famous for its snorkeling, white water rafting and tubing. All Caribbean islands offer guided tours for cruise goers who simply want to relax a bit and see the sights.

Only slightly less popular are cruises to the Eastern Caribbean. Although it takes a bit longer to get there, the Eastern Caribbean is home to some of the most beautiful tropical islands in the world. Popular ports of call in this region include: San Juan, Puerto Rico, St. Maarten and St. Thomas. Fishing, diving and shopping are the most popular pastimes for tourists on their stops to these islands.

Because cruises often depart from Puerto Rico instead of Florida, cruises to the Southern Caribbean are far less popular for American vacationers. Of course, that doesn’t make them any less enjoyable for people who choose to go the extra mile. Ports of call for the Southern Caribbean include: Dominica, Barbados, Aruba and St. Thomas. All of these islands are famous for their white-sand beaches, crystal clear waters and challenging hiking tours.

So you want to take a vacation in the Caribbean?

You’re reading this article because you want some help in making a decision about where in the Caribbean to go for your vacation?

It is sensible to take some time over choosing your Caribbean Vacation Destination, because it may come as a surprise to you, that not all Caribbean island destinations are the same!!

The Caribbean islands have a reputation for their beaches, but there is lots more, so if you are looking for more than just beaches for your vacation, there will be something here for you.

Firstly let us look at how the various islands are different

1. The weather can be different on different Caribbean Islands.

This is due to different things such as mountains, the trade winds, and even where the islands are located.

If you take as an example the Caribbean island of Aruba, it has a desert climate where cacti and aloe grow more readily than fragrant hibiscus.

On the other hand Puerto Rico is mountainous, so it would be perfect for the hiker, and of course it is much cooler at altitude.

2. There are cultural differences between different Caribbean Islands.

There is a lot of french style in the French West Indies especially Martinique.

The Netherland Antilles will give you Dutch Colonial style.

On the other hand for more than a few traces of her former military might then the British West Indies still is terribly British!!

All of this is of course as a result of these islands being a part of a colonial past, and the language used can be a fascinating mix.

3. Activities on offer are the key to your Caribbean Vacation, and this is where your choice is so important.

The Caribbean is beautiful both above and below the sea, as well as there being mountains, and beaches, there is also the remnants of the colonial history to look at.

The Caribbean has many Carnivals to attract visitors but you need to make the right choices based upon what YOU want to do.

a. Jamaica

Lots of visitors flock to Jamaica because of its’beaches and resorts. Destinations like Negril, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and Kingston, are all part of Caribbean Vacation folklore.

You might choose to explore the Blue Mountains, or play golf on a former plantation, and the food is quite unique and delicious. Having said that if I wanted to go scuba diving or snorkelling, then Jamaica would not be my first choice.

b. You may then want to try Cancún

Cancun itself may not be your ideal Caribbean destination as it can be packed with students at certain times of the year. However whilst Cancún may have lovely beaches and incredible nightlife, you must not overlook Cozumel which offers superb diving.

You could try the Mayan Riviera where you can find family orientedless crowded places like Playa del Carmen, and if you want Mayan ruins then go to Tulum.

c. The Bahamas could be the place for you

Now you may not like the Bahamas because of the amount of Caribbean cruise ships that visit, bringing with it cowded towns, but on the other hand if busy ports and beaches are your thing, you’ll love it.

What is suggested here is you visit the Out Islands, or perhaps follow Ernest Hemingway’s past escapes, or just sail around the islands, there will be somewhere in the Bahamas for you.

d. Puerto Rico is very well recommended, because of the variety of attractions

This Caribbean island has everything from mountains, to historic towns like Old San Juan to a bit of diving and snorkelling.

You should visit Ponce on the southern coast for a touch of something a little different? and its rainforest, El Yunque, is the only rainforest in the U.S. National Parks system.

San Juan has it all, from beaches to shopping, casinos, and nightlife, although that in itself will put off some readers.

4.There are also natural groupings of Caribbean Islands

a. The Virgin Islands are a sailor’s paradise, whether you visit The British Virgin Islands or the U.S.

Here you’ll find beautiful crystal clear waters and plenty of places to see.

St. Thomas offers shopping.
St. Croix features historic Dutch buildings.
St. John is home to a wildlife reserve.
The U.S. Virgin Islands is a great place if you snorkel or scuba dive.

b. The British Virgin Islands are much more peaceful with island names from the era of pirates.
You could go to Barbados, another very British island, and perhaps watch cricket.

There is Bermuda, although strictly not a Caribbean island, people tend to include it, and it is yet another example of Great Britain’s colonial past, with policemen, golf, and buildings.

The sister islands of Antigua and Barbuda are also known for beautiful beaches and rich British history, as well as incredible sailing.

c. Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao, known as the ABC Islands, are three of the Netherlands Antilles located just north of Venezuela’s coast. With the added distinction of being outside the Caribbean’s ?Hurricane Belt,? this trio of islands offers some unusual desert climates, but fascinating history, and nature unlike what you’ll find in the rest of the Caribbean.

5.Some other Caribbean Islands worth considering

a. The Dominican Republic, St. Lucia, Saba, Belize, and Dominica are known for their natural beauty. With mountains, rivers, tropical forests, and reefs to explore.

Each of these has different reasons to visit, whether you’re curious about The Dominican Republic’s popular surfing beaches, or St. Lucia’s famous volcanic peaks, there’s sure to be something that is perfect for island explorers.

In conclusion while it may be easy to visualize what some would consider to be typically Caribbean, it may take a little more effort to really pick an island that is perfect for your stay.

Every traveler has his or her own idea of what makes up a great vacation, and a vacation to the Caribbean that fufils your dreams is not difficult to organise.

Originally named Xaman-Ha (waters of the north) Playa del Carmen is part of the Mayan World. Located on the crystal blue waters of the Mexican Caribbean, Playa del Carmen is just 40 miles (60 kms.) south of Cancun. Playa, as it is known as to locals, is the perfect spot from which to explore the fascinating sites of The Mayan Riviera. Playa del Carmen is known for its miles of white sandy beaches, phosphorescent Caribbean waters, and its laid back attitude. Playa del Carmen is a place for those in search of a unique visit, vibrant people, amazing Mayan culture, and an overall travel experience that you will never forget. So come and enjoy everything Playa del Carmen and The Riviera Maya has to offer; you will not be disappointed The once quiet seaside village of Playa del Carmen has doubled in population over the past few years, mainly due to foreigners such as Europeans, South Americans, Americans and Canadians who have discovered this little slice of paradise. Playa del Carmen is a place to enjoy amazing beaches, and the famous cenotes by day and trendy eateries, bars, and restaurants by night. The eclectic mix of backpackers, archeological experts, dive junkies, and young hipsters makes Playa del Carmen an incredibly unique and interesting place.

Due to its location, Playa del Carmen, is a veritable hub to outer lying ruins, dive spots, and the concept of “La Ruta Maya”. You will not find La Ruta Maya on your travel map or even in your travel guide because it is not a set route but a concept. Originally the Ruta Maya was to be a new idea in traveling: a specific mapped out area connecting major Mayan archaeological sites and nature preserves throughout southern Mexico and some Central American countries. In reality La Ruta Maya has become to include the Mexican states of Chiapas, Yucatan, Campeche and Quintana Roo, all of Belize and Guatemala and parts of Honduras. Now travelers who are hoping to experience these amazing parts of Mexico and Central America flock to Playa del Carmen as their window into the Mayan World. Because of where Playa is located there are bus routes through out Mexico and Central America that originate in the area. So, many people come to the area and use Playa del Carmen as their “home base” while they travel onto Palenque, Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, or some other far reaching destination.

The amazing archeological sites sprinkled through out the region such as Tulum, Coba, Ek Balam, and Chichen Nitza are major attractions to people coming to visit the area. Bringing archeologist’s, graduate students, and self proclaimed archeological buffs from all over the world. Visiting one, or several, of the ruin sites is a MUST DO when visiting the area. The area is so rich in history and culture it would be a real shame to miss out on learning a bit about where you are. In addition to amazing archeological sites, there are multiple natural wonders scattered through out the Riviera Maya. For example the Sian Kaan Biosphere Reserve near Tulum. Sian Kaan is an ecotourism and educational center, and it serves as a model for sustainable development in sensitive tropical ecosystems. They offer tours and accommodations which in turn fund their research. So if you want to check it out, it is worth looking into and it is an incredible project to support.

There is also Xel-Ha and Xcaret, ecotourism theme parks both of which are located between Playa del Carmen, and Tulum. They offer both fun in the sun, and wildlife conservation which in turn is a great combination. Crococun is a Park and Regional Zoo located north of Playa del Carmen. Originally designed to farm crocodiles to create a sustainable resource it is now a conservationist park. The kids are sure to love it with its crazy monkeys, beautiful parrots, rare Mayan dogs, local deer, and of course tons of crocodiles! Another must see while in the area is Aktun Chen where you will have a chance to learn about local flora and fauna, and our famous cenote system, with a specialized guide.

There are countless attractions both large and small through out the area that will appeal to all levels of travelers and visitors. Long before Playa del Carmen became a hotspot vacation destination the area was known around the world to dive aficionados as a truly top notch location for under water exploration. They discovered years ago that under the watchful eyes of the ancient Maya in the warm Caribbean waters off the Yucatan Peninsula exists a truly amazing underwater world: where divers can explore the reefs of the Riviera Maya swimming with turtles and schools of Tarpon. They drift along the coral covered walls of famous Cozumel Island named by Jacques Cousteau as one of the best dive spots in the world. And they discover the incredible serenity of daylight cavern diving in the famous Mexican Cenotes – the worlds largest fresh water system formed over tens of thousands of years ago. So if you are certified dive “junkie” or if you want to join the onslaught of underwater explorers we suggest you contact some of the best divers in the area. If diving isn’t your thing, and you would prefer to float on top of the water looking down, there are countless snorkel spots that are truly exceptional.

Akumal is a great snorkel spot with the amazing Yal Kul Lagoon , and Half Moon Bay , both of which have had countless sea turtle sightings. Yal Kul Lagoon is a mixed water lagoon, with sweet water from the underground river system, and an inlet from the Caribbean allowing the sea water to mix with the sweet water. This creates a kind of shimmery oil effect that is rare to see, and in turn creates an eclectic variety of underwater creatures, and coral to check out. Half Moon Bay is located off of La Buena Vida, a perfect place to grab a bite, enjoy a happy hour libation, or lounge on the beach as you intermittently snorkel the reef in search of the famous Akumal turtles. In addition to these two amazing snorkel locations any dive shop, hotel, or tour company offers snorkeling excursions to more remote areas. One worth checking out is the Ocean Adventure Tour , which offers high speed F1 ocean transport, cenote exploration, snorkeling, local fare, and cocktails. It is a great way to enjoy an afternoon enabling you to experience a multitude of activities in a cool laid back way.

Fat Cat Catamaran Tour is another great way to check out the area, based out of Puerto Aventuras, Fat Cat offers a fun version of a “booze cruise”. With the tunes blasting, the beer flowing, and a brand new 50 foot luxury catamaran how can you go wrong? You can lounge on deck, kick back under the shaded area, take a turn on the boom net, and snorkel in hard to reach destinations. Not to mention the unbelievable beaches you will get to visit! For those of you who like to go motorized, one of the longest running tours in the area, ATV Explorer , is a total blast. Located in the jungle just West of the beach a few minutes south of Playa del Carmen, ATV Explorer offers a great introduction to the area. Blasting through the jungle on your own ATV you will see a Mayan ruin, experience local fauna and flora (keep you eyes peeled for the crazy monkeys on Monkey Loop), and dive into one of the freshest, deepest cenotes in the area. As you can see there are countless things to do and see while visiting Playa del Carmen and The Rivera Maya. From remote cave dives, to amazing archeological sights, not to mention the bright blue Caribbean and white sandy beaches, you are sure to take home memories that will last you a life time!

Why do people choose to go on cruises, instead of booking a plane flight? One thing that attracts people to these large boats and cruises is the food. Not only does a cruise offer breakfast, lunch and dinner, they also offer midnight buffets, afternoon snack buffets, ice cream bars and 24-hour room service! There is a veritable open bar on food. You can eat casually or formally. You can have a large meal or a small meal. You can eat with hundreds of people or privately. Keep in mind, of course, that the quality of the cruise line determines the quality of the food. Also remember that many of the cruise ships are feeding approximately 2000 people 10 meals per day!

A cruise offers everything you could possibly want from a getaway: entertainment, relaxation, great food, and variety. Next time, don’t overlook that great big boat out in the harbor.

Entertainment is another attraction. Most cruise lines run full-scale production shows, have live bands, and/or add other specials for the children. The Disney® Cruise line offers meals with Disney characters and special entertainment geared towards the younger crowd. Floating casinos adorn most cruise ships to the delight of many adults who use this as their evening entertainment. Having activities planned throughout the entire day, some cruise lines are like floating day camps. You can be as active or inactive as you choose to be.

Cruises offer one-stop-shopping. Variety. One flight plus one boat equals lots of different locations. It would be impossible to attempt to visit each port individually outside of a cruise line. It would be very expensive and much too time consuming. There would be no time for fun. Once aboard the ship, you leave only to visit the places of port. No need to pack and unpack. No need for unnecessary travel. On the ship, you have any number of things to keep you entertained while waiting for the next docking.

Carnival® Cruises is great for the first time cruiser. It has many departure sites around the country. Land and sea prices are available for those who need to fly to a port of departure. Just a few of the destinations to which Carnival® Cruise Lines will take you include: the Bahamas, Aruba, St. Thomas, St. John, San Juan Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, the Keys, Cozumel, Hawaii, Alaska, Martinique and Barbados.

Celebrity® Cruises is higher-end. It has a sophisticated AquaSpa on board and sports a unique art collection on the Galaxy ship as well. Celebrity® has received a 5-star rating for its cuisine (not food but cuisine). If all of that is not impressive enough, it also includes an in-cabin entertainment and information center.

Radisson® Seven Seas, Seaborn® Cruises and Windstar® Cruises offer even more luxury than the Celebrity® line. The Radisson® offers the ultimate luxurious experience by managing suites only. It also offers unique destinations such as Tahiti, French Polynesia, Antarctica, the Mediterranean, and Europe. The Windstar® line has romantic trimasted ships and sail to the Caribbean, The Americas, the Greek Isles and Europe.

As you can see, there are cruise lines for everyone. These lines are just a few of the many options of cruises. But every line has something which makes it unique, so you might want to do some research to make sure you find the cruise you were looking for.

Cruises are becoming more and more popular with families. However, some parents are opting out of cruises for more traditional family vacations because of fears that there may not be enough appropriate entertainment or other children on board. Of course, not all cruises are family-friendly, but many cruise lines are now offering cruises especially for families.

What To Do

There are many cruises that are designed specifically with families in mind. Here are just some of the things that you might find to do on these family-friendly cruises.

. Cruises that are designed for the family (or at least ones that will accommodate children on board) will likely have a wide range of amenities and activities designed for these younger guests. Many will have lots of toys and games for children to use.

. Family-friendly cruises should also have many different activities planned for children as well. Generally, they will be based on the ages and interests of the children booked. These activities may include pastimes like painting and crafts, learning projects designed to teach the children about the locations that they will be visiting, and time to talk and share with other kids. Most of these activities are designed to be done without parents so the adults will have ample time to do the things they would like to do.

. Most family-friendly cruises will offer you the ability to take your kids into pools designed just for them. Or, there will be room for them to run and play. The locations that they stop at may also be fun filled for the kids on board.

If you want to be assured your children are well catered for, take a ride on the Disney Cruise Line.

Sailing with Mickey Mouse and his friends is always a fun for children. For example, there is a 15-foot statue of Goofy and Donald Duck on the front of the Disney Wonder, Disney’s second cruise liner. The Disney Wonder and the Disney Magic each offer a different ambiance, but is completely Disney-themed.

Cruises on the Disney Cruise Line range from three to 10 days in length. Some sail around Orlando while others head further out to places like Nassau, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, Grand Cayman Island, Cozumel, and some Mediterranean ports of call.

Of course, the excursions are just as exciting and with so many options, you can choose the type of excursion based on the age of your children and their interests. The Disney Cruise Line also offers plenty of excitement for the older children with nighttime entertainment, all family-friendly.

The shows performed are much like you would see at Disney World and the food on board is delicious, with incredible diversity, but still enough for those picky eaters. Without doubt, Disney Cruise Line creates a wonderful family cruise that is worth every dime.

If you’re planning a Disney holiday then you’ll be sure to want to find out the insider information that the official sites tend to gloss over.

Vacation is a great time for a cruise and a cruise is a great time to sample new perfumes. That may seem like a leap to non-cruisers, but those who board cruise lines know that most ships have onboard boutiques with luxury and specialty items. It is not unusual for a cruise ship store to stock dozens of great perfumes. And what better time to sample new scents than on a cruise vacation? But there are other reasons to buy perfume on a cruise ship.

The cruise lines must think so, too, because most cruise ships feature perfume pretty prominently in their onboard shops. One perk I find in cruising is that you can sample a lot of different perfumes in these shops to really get the feel (and wear) of fragrances you might not normally try.

Cruise lines feature duty-free shopping but the astute woman of fragrance nosing around the cruise shop perfume counter may notice that prices on the perfumes onboard ship are not much different than prices back home at the local department store or online shop. So what’s the big deal about duty-free anyway?

Perfume is one of those things, like diamond rings and the room rate at a Tahitian resort, that just doesn’t go on sale. Most experienced women of fragrance can tell you that perfume prices are stable as the Rock of Gibraltar. The best deal you’ll get from most perfume companies is some sort of packaged set at the holidays or for Mother’s Day.

Do not be disappointed if the boittle of perfume you priced at $60 at the local department store or the $100 gift set that you have seen online at the Sephora website (great place to buy fragrance) are not marked down just because you are onboard a ship. (Perhaps there will be good news, but do not anticipate anything even remotely like a big discount or a cut rate.)

The benefit duty-free shopping is that you don’t pay tax (city, state, or federal) on your purchase. For instance, buy that $60 bottle of perfume at your hometown department store, and you can expect to pay about another $5 in sales tax. (That’s based on an approximate sales tax rate in the U.S. of 8%. If you live in Canada, it’s closer to 12% and in Europe, it’s higher than that!)

Most Europeans instantly “get” the concept of duty-free shopping because it is customary in Europe to add the tax to the purchase price that appears on the label. Thus, seeing the price without the tax added in shows the discount quite plainly.

In the U.S., sales tax is a lot more sneaky. It does not appear until you’re standing at the checkout when it is just tacked on to the purchase price.

Buying duty-free eliminates the tax. Of course, in the U.S. you could also go online and buy perfume from an out-of-state vendor and in that way avoid paying sales tax. However, you’ll get dinged with shipping and handling charges.

When you buy something duty free, you are paying only what the merchandise cost. Even if you don’t get a penny off the retail price of your next bottle of Chanel or Michael Kors or DKNY Be Delicious, you’ll still leave the store paying less than you would have using more traditional outlets.

Another great reason to buy perfume on a cruise ship is that you can really try it before you buy it. You can pop into the cruise shop, get a spritz on the scent you’re considering, and then wear it for the day. We all know that smelling perfume in the bottle (or on those paper strips) is one thing, but wearing it is quite another.

I had that experience with Cinema by Yves St. Laurent. I liked the scent well enough when I used the paper tester strip but there were many other perfumes that seemed more intriguing and interesting. Yet when I did a “test” of wearing Cinema for an afternoon, I found that I loved the scent.

The range of perfumes your cruise ship will carry will depend on the cruise line. Most cruise ships manage to stock a pretty decent range of products. Look for some big names (Givenchy, Chanel, Lancome, and so on) and some newer names (DKNY, Michael Kors, Vera Wang).

You won’t find everything. For instance, on my last cruise, I found the shop had Chanel No. 5, Chance, and Allure from Chanel, but no No. 19. There were many Estee Lauder cosmetics in stock, but no fragrances. Dolce & Gabbana’s Blue was available, but no other scents. You may find some delightful and relatively rare scents (I saw Delices by Cartier and Incanto Charms by Ferragamo) but you cannot expect the cruise line to be a fully stocked perfume shop.

When purchasing perfume onboard, the duty-free purchase counts toward the allowance of merchandise you are allowed to bring back into the country. American citizens are allowed to return from their international cruises with $800 in purchases (per person). If you go over that mark, you have to declare it and you may be asked to pay duty on the overage when you go through customs upon return to the U.S.

What about buying perfume at your ports of call? That depends on whether or not the port charges sales tax and if there are good perfume stores available.

A big surprise for cruising perfume lovers is Cozumel, Mexico. Not only does this sunny Mexican Riveria destination not charge sales tax, there is an outstanding (and very large) perfume boutique in the shopping district immediately near the port. (Just get off the cruise ship and head to the left to the stores …. it’s just a few blocks down.)

European ports charge hefty taxes but may offer perfumes that are not so easy to find in the U.S.

But if perfume lovers go cruising, they can purchase their old and new favorite scents onboard their cruise ship with confidence.

Gone are the days when churches and gardens seem to be the only wedding locations that couples can choose from. If you are not too keen on the concept of having a “white wedding” in a church with the traditional flowers, doves and rice – now is as good a time as any to think of exotic wedding destinations. Fortunately, more and more couples who are about to be married are open to the idea of having their vows uttered in faraway wedding locations. Not only will this make for a memorable wedding ceremony – but the couple, their families and guests will also enjoy a wide array of benefits from having original wedding destinations.

So what exactly are the options that the couples of today have if they want to experience an unforgettable wedding ceremony in a faraway location? Actually, the possibilities are endless. However, one of the most common scenarios that soon-to-be-married couples look at is a beach wedding. Can you picture yourself getting married along the pure, white sand in the beaches of Cancun? The other tropical Caribbean paradise wedding destinations that you can pick from are Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Cozumel, Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Puerto Rico. Montseraat, St. Marten, Trinidad & Tobago or the British Virgin Islands. The good thing about choosing a Caribbean island as a setting for your wedding is that your honeymoon destination will be there as well.

A wedding ceremony held in a volcano island such as Santorini, Greece is also among the most popular wedding locations. Wed in a fairy-tale like setting with the volcano as your backdrop. When you choose this wedding destination, you can book a traditional Greek wedding complete with musicians, dancers – even donkeys if you want! Another great wedding destination is to have a faraway safari wedding in Kenya, Africa. This may sound a bit too much – but if you are looking for truly exotic wedding destinations, why limit yourselves to visiting the next continent? Go all the way to Africa and experience a safari wedding where you can commune with nature in all its glory. If you still are not convinced with the aforementioned wedding destinations, how about an authentic Thai wedding? Among the many countries in Asia, Thai is one of the most exotic locations where you can have a serene wedding. You can even take your pick from an authentic Thai Buddhist ceremony, or a Christian ceremony.

No matter which great wedding destination it is that you will select in the end, the important thing is for you as a couple to decide together. One of the most exciting parts of going for an exotic wedding destination is choosing the location together. When you have a well-planned wedding ceremony – even if it is to be held in a foreign land – you can still turn the celebration into an intimate, age-old ritual which is to be witnessed by your closest friends. As one of the most important events in both of your lives as a couple, you need to carefully plan your great wedding destination so that it will turn out to be an unforgettable event for the both of you, as well as your friends and families.

My excitement upon visiting to Mexico came at curiosity at first. But once I arrived at the airport, my mind became more open to exploration. Knowing that Mexico is the fifth largest country of America that was once colonized by Spain and considered as one of the largest tourism industries in the world, I am not remorseful in my decision to visit this country.

Mexico is teeming with lush forest, amazing species of flora and fauna. But tourist was mesmerized in the ancient Meso-American ruins, colonial cities and Mexico’s popular Caribbean beaches. Imagine living in a tranquil place with a tropical paradise within its border. Along this rich natured location, Mexico accommodations are the greatest thing that made this country more popular as tourist spot.

The latest discovery in 2007 was Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula that has claimed its merit as the world’s longest underground river which was estimated to be 95 miles long. In Yucatán Peninsula particularly the area running south from the resort city of Cancún, and on the north-eastern tip, along what is known as the Riviera Maya is said to be full of holes in large part because of the combination of porous limestone bedrock, rainforest cover and its relative flatness. In the west of the Yucatan peninsula lays the port city of Campeche. With its eye-catching baroque architecture and impressive number of museums, it offers a great example of Mexico’s history and traditional culture away from the more developed destinations. However, Campeche still has all the vitality and amenities of a modern city center, from late-night bars to quality budget accommodation.

Moreover, Mexico has a world class resorts in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Acapulco, and the Riviera Maya that offers a diverse activities, cuisine, entertainment and warm amiability. Cancun is one of the most popular sun destinations of the world. They have extravagant night life, scuba diving, water sports, Jacuzzis, world class shopping, and the beautiful ancient Maya ruins. With this, I really considered Cancun as one of my favorite place in Mexico.

All Mexico accommodations offers a range of eminence hotels and resorts with secure online reservations and best rates. Another good thing was the availability of details on their in-room amenities and outdoor facilities in their vacation rental villas, apartments, beach condos, spas and retreats, ecological theme parks and camp grounds throughout Mexico.

My sojourn in Mexico is a treasured one. The country has plenty to offer to both adventurous travelers and holiday makers seeking a spot of relaxation in an affordable paradise. In my entire stay, I have noticed that most of their accommodations have offer exceptional rates, excellent customer service and serene solitude of their place. Mexico’s accommodations give you the choice from a budget place to hang around, to a mid-range hotel and even a luxurious place to stay.

From its ancient remains to popular resorts and bustling cities to unspoiled coastlines, Mexico is a traveler’s paradise. With so many enthralling places to visit, the only question is where to head first!
