I’d say at least $500, for spending money (I know it’s all-inclusive, but if you want to do something extra, like parasailing or whatever) and emergency money.
$500 sounds about right – but not to worry, there are plenty of ATM machines available and they dispense American dollars which are just as good as pesos anywhere in country.
If I was you I would take anywhere from $1000-$1500. This will ensure that you have no issues in doing whatever it is you may want to do. There is alot of things to see and do. You can also take a ferry ride to city of Playa Del Carmen and do some very inexpensive shopping. The ferry ride is only $20 bucks round trip and gives you so many more options than just staying on the island for a week. From Playa you can take tours to see many different sight s and attractions. Look online and see what might interest you and make you plans from that.
